How to get started with mindfulness meditation

Andy Puddicombe is a former Buddhist monk who has made it his life’s work to bring the benefits of meditation to the secular world. His November 2012 Ted talk on mindfulness meditation got over 5 million views.

In it, he talks about the transformative power of being more mindful and living in the present moment. He asks how many of us, in today’s world, ever do absolutely nothing. He talks about how meditation isn’t about having no thoughts, which is impossible for most of us. Rather it is about being able to step back and be aware of passing thoughts but not consumed by them.

Meditation can be the most delicious break from the constant chatter of a busy mind and is proven to have all sorts of health benefits if done over the long term. If the video resonates, try out Andy’s Headspace app for daily guided mindfulness meditation sessions.

All it takes is 10 mindful minutes 😉
